Meghan's hair is so long and the ends were starting to get dry so I decided that it was time for her first hair cut! She was so excited! The lady trimming her hair had to have her stand up so she could trim her hair it was so long!

On Wednesday I signed Meghan up for kindergarten! I did really well. I didn't even shed one tear! I dotted all the “I’s” and crossed all the “T’s” on the mountain of paperwork. I was even able to admit she can be a bit “bossy” on the “about me” sheet! I was very proud of myself; I tend to be a bit emotional.

One day later...much different story…

Meghan’s preschool had its International Concert..the class marched in waving flags from all around the world and I watched my little girl climb up on that big stage and I started to lose it! The tears started before the music! I can’t believe she is going to be 5 in just a few short months! I can say for sure that God has blessed me with two great kids!

Wednesday afternoon Mya was doing her usual cartwheels across the entry way of the house ~~I have warned her many times that she is going to get hurt~~ and she fell not once but twice! The first time she got up and kept on going. The second time she stayed down ~~I told her not to cartwheel in the house~~. I watched her until Ken got home from work and she was really in a lot of pain so off we went to the Urgent Care ~~did I mention I have told her not to cartwheel in the house?~~ ! They did an xray and said she had a break. They splinted her and told us we had to see a Pediatric Ortho on Thursday. So we got the appt and she indeed has a brake and is in a cast for 3 weeks and then he will reevaluate her arm! Pray for us that this only lasts 3 weeks.......~~I told her so~~!

I have been a little obsessed with a few blogs lately that explain how to save hundreds of dollars every month by "couponing". After a few weeks of wondering if I could do it I finally gave it a shot. It is not as easy as you think it is. First, you have to change the way you think about how you buy groceries. You don't really buy for the week, you buy for what is on sale and cook off of the storage you have built up. Secondly, you have to spend quite a bit of time organizing and preparing for your trip to the grocery store. Last night Ken and I stayed up late looking over the Publix add and pulling coupons from the internet and it really paid off in a big way! Publix offers many "buy one get one"(BOGO) offers and you can use one coupon per item! For example purchased Ragu pasta sauce BOGO for $3.19 and then used a coupon that saved me $1 off two sauces, so I got both for $2.19!

Snow..

I guess it has been a "bad" winter here in Alabama. Mya has had more snow days since we moved here than we ever did in Colorado! To date we are at 3 days out of school, I can only remember a few late starts in Colorado in 4+ years. Keep in mind the "major" snow storms here produce maybe 1 inch of snow, but it shuts the city down! Even with the threat of a storm they will let the kids our early. At first I didn't understand what was the problem, but then after a few news reports I get it. This is a city with a lot of overpasses and bridges and as the snow melts and the water freezes it turns to black ice! So needless to say the city shuts down and the grocery stores shelves empty of bread, milk and eggs. I make sure to keep enought milk and eggs on hand so IF I do get stuck home I can just make my own bread!!

Ever since my sister updated her blog I have have been riddled with guilt to do the same, so here I go!

Many things have changed since the last post April 24th, 2009! I don't even know where to start so I will just wrap it all up in a nice little nutshell.

My 3 year old in my last blog is now 4 going on 5, my then 9 year old is now 10. My darling husband got a new job that put an end to his weekly travel and over a period of a week we put our house in Colorado on the market, got a contract in two days! Hubby and I made a quick trip to Alabama to house hunt (A big thanks to Toree for flying out to stay with the girls in Colorado!!) looked at 26 houses in one day and found the kitchen of my dreams the next day, put a contract on it and the next day flew back to Colorado! On August 14th we closed on the old house and with tears in my eyes bid adieu to Colorado Springs and all of our friends of the last 4.5 years. We took 3 days to drive to Huntsville stopping to see and do things along the way. Lived in a hotel for over a week, got both girls in school and learned the lay of the land. We closed on our new house on the 25th of August!

So I use the about paragraph as my excuse as to why I have not blogged. Have I had time? Of course I have, but I didn't. I am human.

We are settled into our new house and are enjoying the extra elbow room and we love the area!

Remembering my past with my future...

We decided to spend "spring break" in Idaho this year, bad idea if you are looking for spring like weather! As we enjoyed a wintery week in Idaho with family I decided I would take the girls around the town and show them a few things that stick out in my mind from my childhood.

First and foremost I wanted them to see the "Welcome to Rigby" sign. I remember this sign when it was shiny and new. It is a bit run down these days, but it still lets everyone driving by know that Rigby, ID is the birthplace of the television!

I guess I took for granted how beautiful the Snake River really was(and is) as a child. I love to drive by the Riverwalk when I visit and take in the beautiful falls.

This water tower is special to Mya! I have no idea why, but when she was 2 years old we drove past this red, white and blue relic and Mya shouted with joy that she found "Barney's Castle"!! Ever since then that is how we refer to it. We have now convinced Meghan that it's Barney's Castle!

Last but not least, we drove by the "witches tower"!!! I don't know what the purpose of this old stone building was, but I can tell you that my family took great please in scaring us with it! I would love to find out it's true purpose!

We are lucky enough to live amongst many military bases and are surrounded by active and retired military people! Last week was a very active week with many of our local troops returning home. You can always tell when they are going to return because you see signs hanging from the pedestrian bridges! I pass this bridge weekly on my way to school. Last week it was overflowing with signs! It makes me have mixed emotions, I'm so excited for the families being reunited and sad for the families who have lost a loved one!

Most importantly, I just want to say "THANK YOU" to all the people past and present who has fought for our great country!!

We had our church Christmas Program last night and the girls did a great job! Mya played Mary and had sang the Magnificat. She did a great job and she made her Momma cry!! Meghan was a sheep and did as all sheep do...wandered and played. She got herself together to help sing "Go tell it on the Mountain!" It was a good way to remind us of why we celebrate CHRITSTmas!!

Mya had her first (and last) slumber party for her birthday this year! After eating some pizza and salad the girls decorated cupcakes. I told them that I would be judging the cupcakes and would need a very pretty one for the contest. They all had a great time and I let them decorate enough cupcakes to take home for thier family as a party favor.....

Mya had no idea but I made her a "cupcake cake" for her birthday with all the cupcakes they had decorated. It turned out very cute and unique!

So last night I took the girls to the Dollar Tree and on the way out they had a whole endcap of ipod covers!!! They had so many styles and colors to choose from I ended up getting 3 for my Nano and they only had one for Mya's shuffle. When we got home Mya and I proceeded to to put on our covers and Meghan was freaking out!! She wanted her own ipod. It's not fair that everyone has one but her!! (Remember she is only 3 1/2!!) So I gave her the ipod looking box that was placed in the cover to show you how it would look and the shit hit the fan!!! She had to call her Aunt Missy and tell her and she cried for about an hour. So this morning I taped one of my old cellphone ear pieces into the "fake" ipod and Meghan was in heaven!!! It has been in her ear all day and what ever is on the radio is the song on her ipod!

So I had to start a new medication a few weeks ago and lets just say it has some "shitty" side effects. I'm so tired of stomach cramps and random diarrhea that I could scream. Even worse is all those little sayings like "I don't give a shit!", "oh crap!", "does the bear shit in the woods?" or even "up shit creek without a paddle" have a whole new meaning to me! I do give a shit, more often than I would like too, and if I yell "oh crap", you better get out of my way. I do believe bears shit in the woods and one day I may too, if I'm driving down the right road and the urge hits, and as far as shit creek...I wouldn't even dare step foot in a boat with this condition.

For Father’s Day this year Ken decided that he wanted to drive up to the summit of Pikes Peak Mountain. At the summit of the mountain you are at 14,110 above sea level! The drive is only about 18 miles, but it took about an hour up and more coming down! It was beautiful at the top, but the air is very thin and it didn’t feel the greatest. We didn't stay at the top long and I swear on the way down I passed out from a low oxygen level. When I came too, we were at a much better altitude and felt back to normal. At a check point on the way down a Fish and Game guy checks the temperature of your brakes. If they are over 300° you have to pull over and allow them to cool down since you are about to start the steepest decent. (They have “strategically” placed a gift shop at this very location!) Of course, the Fish and Game guy zaps our brakes and they are a smoldering 318 degrees! So while we sat with the hood up to help the cooling process the girls noticed a mining stream set up outside the gift shop. Apparently you can buy a bad of dirt of $10 in the gift shop but the girls just “re-panned” the left over dirt and found lots of treasures. After watching the girls pull out treasure after treasure I went and tried my hand at it!

You will notice in the pictures that the girls are dressed in warm clothes and jackets. When we started out to the top the temperature was 87° by the time we got to the top the temperature had dropped to 47°!

On June 16, my little baby turned three! I can not believe how fast Meghan has grown up! She had a great birthday dinner at Johnny Carino's and then we had a birthday BBQ for her at the house on Saturday. She loved playing in the pool with all of her friends.

After doing some serious soul searching I have decided to change my major in school. I was in the Surgical Tech program and am now going to go into Medical Coding and Billing. I spoke to my advisor today and I’m going to the school to fill out my “Change of Major” form, change my schedule and exchange my books. I really feel good about this and feel like it’s the right thing to do for me and my family. I’m thankful that I realized this before I had taken a bunch of classes that I didn’t need! So now I can enjoy my time off of school and get ready to hit the books again on July 7th!
